About us
The Poreč City Library has been operating in two places since 2007; in the main library at 3 Marafor square (238 m²), and in the Children’s and Youth Literature Department at 4 Marafor square (88 m²) as well as in the study hall (44 m²) with 18 seats and computer equipment.
Our work program focuses on the achievement of the strategic goals and mission of our library as the cultural and informative center of Poreč, the meeting place of different generations and people with different affinities and the arrangement of traditional programs organized by our library.
The staff consists of five employees, and according to the Croatian National Standards for Public Libraries we are two staff members short. The library serves 16,696 inhabitants in the area of Poreč and the population of the associated gravitational municipalities: Vrsar, Sveti Lovreč, Vižinada, Višnjan, Kaštelir-Labinci, Tar-Vabriga and Funtana, where there are no established forms of library services. The Poreč City Library fund has a total of 55,000 units. The Library members are offered with rich collections: the local collection, comic books, foreign language books, reference collection and audio – visual material. The majority of the fund is freely accessible and available in the main library, Children’s and Youth Literature Department and in four librarian stations.
The ZaKi library program is integrated in the library business, so the entire fund is cataloged and available through the online library catalog, regardless of topical and time factors. The main library is open to public 59 hours per week while the Children’s and Youth Literature Department is open 26 hour per week.
